These terms are a draft pending legal review and may change before LokalMatch launches publicly. By using LokalMatch, you agree to the version in effect at the time.
What LokalMatch is and isn't
LokalMatch is an online marketplace that helps homeowners find and connect with independent home-service professionals.
We aren't a contractor, and we don't perform, supervise or guarantee any work. Pros are independent businesses, and any agreement for work is between the homeowner and the pro. Verification labels show which checks were done and when; they are not a guarantee of workmanship, pricing or conduct.
Your account
You must be able to enter into a contract where you live and give accurate information. Keep your login details secure; you're responsible for activity on your account.
If you're a homeowner
- Submit real requests for work at a property you own, rent or manage, or where you have permission to arrange work.
- Describe the job accurately and keep your contact details up to date.
- Treat pros respectfully and let them know if the job is no longer available.
- Make your own decision about who to hire, and check licences, insurance and permits where needed.
If you're a pro
- Give accurate information about your business, services, service areas and credentials.
- Hold, and keep current, any licences, registrations and insurance your work requires.
- Only accept leads you can follow up on, and deal with homeowners promptly and honestly.
- Use homeowner information only to respond to that request, never for unrelated marketing.
- Follow the laws that apply to you, including consumer protection, privacy and anti-spam laws.
Lead purchases and refunds
Pros see the price of a lead in Canadian dollars before accepting it. Once you accept, the charge applies whether or not you win the job. Prices may change over time, but a change never affects a lead you've already accepted.
If a lead is invalid under our invalid lead policy, you can ask for a refund review. We decide each case based on the information available to us.
Reviews and other content
You're responsible for what you post, including reviews, messages and photos. It must be honest, lawful and consistent with our review policy. You keep ownership of your content, but you allow LokalMatch to host, display and moderate it so we can run the service. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
What you can't do
- Post fake requests, profiles or reviews.
- Impersonate someone else or misrepresent your business.
- Scrape, copy or resell data from LokalMatch.
- Harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone.
- Interfere with the site's security or operation.
- Use LokalMatch to send spam or for any unlawful purpose.
Limits of our liability
LokalMatch is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for work performed by pros, for disputes between homeowners and pros, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Suspension and closing an account
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, put others at risk or misuse the service. Where appropriate, we'll tell you why.
Governing law, changes and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the province or territory where you live and the federal laws of Canada that apply.
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version with its date and let you know about significant changes before they take effect. Questions? Write to hello@lokalmatch.com.
